Not a very unbiased website. LePage (to my knowledge) is and was not a member of the tea party. Just a man running who was cheesed off, like a lot of us were , at the Democrats way of running the state for the last 30 odd years. But on the other hand, it did not show many smarts on LePage's part. Although it is legal (even this website claims that) to do and maybe she IS/WAS the most qualified. No one has said anything about that.

I thought that was kinda strange myself. They guy was espousing change, then does that. Even if she is/was the most qualified (the article I read stated she just finished college with an unrelated degree) it may have served him well to appoint someone else to that post to avoid the critics. As I don't have a dog in that hunt, I should refrain form comment, But having served in state gov for many years (not Maine, but they are all the same)this is something I am familiar with and not much suprises me. Veterans preference, hard work and academic achievement mean little. We had a lady with an Associate's Degree supervising PhD's and Master's level therapists, and she was paid much more than we were. That's when I retired. Elected public office is not a road I would choose to go down. Mayhaps that is the only transgression he will make. Yes, he is within his rights by the letter of the law I agree, and he in reality did no wrong- it just does not look right.

I agree, it was a stupid thing to do after the campaign that was run. But that's the trouble with political office; too many politicians.

Says she was qualified, so why not hire her?

Liberal politicians never hire relatives?

In the words of the poster's progressive leader...WE WON, GET OVER IT!

LePage was not a TEA party candidate.

I love the part of the article that says if she lives in the Blaine House, we will also be footing the bill for her groceries, etc.

I have news for teachertype, the average welfare queen in Maine with kids, sucks over 50k out of the taxpayers, in cash and benefits.

Oh yea.....people are so shocked because this is right in front of them... what they dont know or refuse to acknowledge is this has been going on for years in a MUCH MORE SINISTER manner.

Traditionaly here in the North East your local Democrat politician would have had a private company hire his daughter at three times that amount and then somehwere down the road passed some sort of legistlation that helps out that company...

If its a legitimate job and she's qualified (and responsible) why not??...
