I found this memorial in the woods above Millinocket, was wondering if NMLM (or anyone else) knew anything about the history of this man.

He died just four years after Benjamin Bowers. He could be a Revolutionary War Vet. There are good records from back then, but he has a very common name.

I have a photo of my sons beside Joe McKeel's grave on the Allagash River. The man died in a log jam and they buried him in a pork barrel. It's what they had. The boys were six and eight years old. They doffed their Effanem crusher hats to show respect for Joe.
