Circuit City is not opening their new store. I cant believe they would wast money to build a store and not even open it. This is the beginning of the end of the shoppes at river crossing. Why cant Macon support decent stores?

Circuit City is closing stores not because Macon can't support them, the company filed bankruptcy and are having to close stores everywhere not just in Macon.....obviously you didn't read the entire article you got this info from.... Most of the stores in Macon that closed, has nothing to do with the Market's ability to support them, Circuit city, Goody's and the Macon Mall-Dillard's closings, are part of these companies plans to cut cost because they are suffering overall nationally from the bad economy and closing stores are more cost effective.

It is called oversaturation. Too small of a market obviously. That's horrible to hear they just built a new store that will now sit as an empty shell.

Companies close stores because they are not performing and turning a profit. Why would a company close a profitable store??????

If you guys would go Circuit City web sight it will explain why they closed all the stores in Atlanta, Macon, Athens,... They were not profitable. They will start liquidating their merchandise in those stores come Wednesday. Happy shopping.

Actually, that is the reason. They are closing underperforming stores.
