I offered a teaching job at Tulane inveristy and Plan to move in January 2008 with my wife and 6 years old girl. Is there any comment on Lusher Charter school? How can we find a safer apartment to rent around Tulane? Any comments are welcome!

I've heard some really good things about Lusher. A recent article (http://blog.nola.com/graphics/2007/08/orleans_parish_leap_scores.html - broken link) in the Times-Picayune compares Orleans schools and Lusher is right at the top of the heap.

The area around Tulane is generally safe but the crime is everywhere so nothing can be guaranteed. I suggest you check with the University office since I'm sure they have a lot of information about housing in the area.

Lusher is the best public charter school in NO. You'll have to find a house near Tulane in the Lusher district though. The Tulane area is one of the safer areas of NO to live in. I have two children and I would send them to Lusher and live in the Uptown area... we are thinking about the move actually!!
