I am a 23 year old african american female living in Manhattan Beach for the summer. It doesn't seem to be many of my kind in the area. So where are the young african american professionals out there? Where are the hangout spots and are there any arts and culture events going on this summer?

I'm not from Los Angeles, but the only place I know of like that is Leimert Park. It's in South Los Angeles. If you considered going there, you might want to do your research before going because it's near bad areas and you don't want to accidentally go down the wrong street or into the wrong neighborhood.

The African Marketplace in August is fun, and it's in one of the nice African-American areas of town.

Yup, Manhattan Beach is pretty homogenous. It's a nice place to live though!
