There's a Shakas Hawaiian Restaurant on Main & 1st which is good. There's a wall covered with Spam cans. I ate there once - Spam and eggs.

There's some nightlife near the Edwards Theater which is decorated with awful neon lights. They picked all the worst colors for those neon lights. Actually, the places near there are all predictable chain places like Applebee's.

Farther east along Main is all Asian culture now. Alhambra is getting more Asian in the past few years.

The Valley Blvd. mall has an Ono's Hawaiian BBQ which is decent. That mall is okay but borders on seedy.

Of course there's InNOut which is the northern part of Alhambra.

I lived in South Pasadena for several years, when I was in Southern California. We always stayed in Downtown South Pasadena, or went to Old Town Pasadena, which was very close. Alhambra did have some great Asian and Mexican restaurants though and Main Street and Garfield, was OK to hang out at to catch a movie and have dinner somewhere close by.

Go to Twohey's (shares the parking lot with the in n out you mentioned). Best ice cream sundaes and shakes in the SGV. Fosselmann's in Alhambra and the Fair Oaks pharmacy in South Pas are good, but Twohey's bittersweet hot fudge is killer.

You have to try The Boiling Crab on Main St.

Alhambra is pretty weak in my opinion, you'd be much more entertained in Pasadena.

I worked on a project there in a couple of yrs ago and was there for about 3 or 4 months, nothing much happening, a pretty boring bedroom community.

Agreed. When I lived in Alhambra, there were only a handful of businesses I frequented, and we never went out anywhere in the city. I sold my house quickly and bought in Pasadena. It's a whole, new world!
