So I'm driving back from Vegas to LA and I get a speeding ticket. I'm told I'm lucky because I got my ticket on the Nevada side of the border rather than the CA side. The ticket was relatively cheap, but I'm wondering if the rules are any different since I live in CA, but the Nevada state trooper pulled me over. My friends tell me that since I live in CA, they won't notify my insurance so it won't even take a hit and that I don't even need to do traffic school. All I need to do is pay the fine.

Does that sound right? Has anyone here been pulled over on the Nevada side before? How does it work?

My "court date" is not until August, so ....

Found this info:

Quote:
All States as of 2005 are Required through New Federal Regulation to comply with and make available to all other states reciprocal driver records. It Is not a matter of a ticket needing to be reported to your state anymore. The computer reports you. If the infraction occurred then the information is entered into the newly integrated drivers record databases

no, you have it all wrong, Cal. is the worst state to get tickets in, they will do whatever they can to keep you under their thumb, lose paperwork, postpone, and they are in it with the dmv, they say they forward stuff to the dmv but the dmv is so backed up, you will get a suspended license while you wait for them to update anything, do what I did ,camp out there until they clear it all up, it will save you lots of money in the end, good luck

Myself, I'd call up the Nevada courthouse where your ticket will be based out of and ask one of the clerks there - they'll be able to tell you. See if you can take traffic school on that ticket, if you haven't been to traffic school in the last 18 months. They may not have your original citation in their possession until two weeks have passed - usually the issuing agency sends the citations over in bunches. They can tell you all about it when it's put into the computer - but not before.

Make sure anything you send to that courthouse is certified mail, return receipt. Make sure you have the correct address for the courthouse and the department that you send any fines or correspondence to!!!
