I will be attending FIDM this fall...

I'm just wondering should I go to the one in LA or the one in orang co?

I'm looking to be somewhere where the beach isnt THAT far, theres fun stuff to do at night, and where there are plenty of kids 18-24.

1.) You better have a good budget. Both are located in expensive areas.

2.) It will depend what you are really looking for, if you are 21 already, and if you have a car. This is because:

-Downtown: Lots of young people. FIDM is located in South Park in downtown LA and there are tons of lofts and apartments, lots of bars and restaurants, and lots of nightlife. Most places can be walked to including bars, nightclubs, restaurants, and grocery stores(Ralphs is across the street). But if you are not 21 yet, there is literally nothing to do. That FIDM has been there a long time. Its about a 45 minute drive to the OC Coast, and about a 45 minute drive from the South Bay Beach area. About a 30 minute drive from Santa Monica and Venice.

-Irvine: You need a car. Everything is suburban and spread out. From what I read, the campus is brand new so I don't know how well attended it is. There are nightclubs and bars in Irvine, Newport Beach, and Costa Mesa. There are also things to do if you are under 21...quite a bit actually. Should be a 15-20 minute drive from Newport Beach, a 30 minute drive to Huntington Beach.

I currently spend 2300 on my manhattan apartment (WHAT A JOKE). But Yes I will be bringing my car.
So will 1750-1900 be good for another one bedroom?

If I was going to go the LA campus I planned on living in WeHo or La Brea.
If I was going to the OC campus I planned on living in Newport or Costa Mesa area.

I'm 19 and living in NY has been exciting but I want to have the beach be 15-25 away and I want there to be fun stuff to do at night where I can meet people. I just dont want to be stuck in a "dead" area where I find myself going to bed at 12 every night.

I'm guessing you can't get into any LA clubs under 21, and that alcohol laws are heavily enforced as welll

Your budget will be fine.

Your nightlife options are totally limited when you are under 21. IMO you will not find anything different in Weho or La Brea than you will downtown. You will be closer to the beach, but also have a pain with driving and parking each day(parking downtown LA ain't no fun). You might do better staying downtown and making friends at the school than anything else. There's a lot to be said for having an apartment right next to the school. Like I said, grocery store across the street, movie theatre a couple blocks away at LA Live and also live events(concerts, sports, etc) at Nokia and Staples Center. IMO you are asking a bit much for there to be nightlife late at night for someone under 21. I don't know anywhere that exists. Even places like Dave and Busters restrict admission after 9pm. At 19 for me it was mostly movies, arcades, and lots of late nights spent shooting pool or at Carrows. Not much else to do.

There are plenty of 18+ clubs in LA. Especially in Hollywood.
