That's actually a pretty tough one to answer. Air quality is probably equal, but traffic is much worse in and out of West LA. Then, again, your drive time to UCLA would be much shorter from West LA and the 405 is a nightmare at commute times.

Does it make much of a difference between the North and South ends of MB?

How much extra time on the road being in MB would add as compared to being in West LA or SAMO?

Thanks.

atleast 30 minutes, probably closer to 45 minutes each way. if you have the budget for manhattan beach, you're better off going with santa monica, it is not that much more expensive and it is only 10-20 minutes from UCLA.

Manhattan Beach is a really nice quiet place to live, I actualy live in Hermosa Beach and i love it here. However most of the people here have lots of money and if you are going to rent if will be very expensive and so will the homes. All of the schools here are really good and have very high scores. It is safe to walk here and they have really fun places to go and eat. So with all of that being said i think that you would really like it here.

Thank you all.

So how different is MB and Santa Monica in terms of quietness, air quality and safety(for beach walks in the evenings and early mornings etc)? I am trying to decide whether the differences are big enough to drive the extra distance from MB. The above three qualities are what matters most to me, aside from the traffic and driving.

Thanks for your inputs.
