alot of facotr come into play when that descision is gonna be made, other than business what other attraction do you like in a area? for example NoHo is up and coming right now and may not have the old classic structures that you may want to be surrounded by. BUT theres alot of new shops, bars, lounges, and restaurants that will spark your interest. I love that area but im 25 and a bit of a bar fly. the neighborhood can change quickly (danger wise) from block to block, but it is close to the red & orange transit lines, AND a stones throw to the Hollywood scene.

Default NoHo vs Miracle Mile

I've lived in both the Miracle Mile and NoHo and to Kingofthehill, plenty of people call it NoHo. NoHo Arts District from what I just read from the LA times last week, has the largest collection of theatres outside of New York City. Any....way....

The Miracle Mile has a lot of Art Deco stylings if that is your taste. It is also located near the famously known Grove. NoHo is in the works to build their own Grove at Valley Plaza, but that is not slated to break ground until the middle of this year according to the developer's website.

The Miracle Mile tends to have issues with traffic and parking. When I lived there, my friends and family did not visit me often due to the parking challenges. Sometimes, I would even have to park down the street if I didn't get home in time.

No Ho is more of a suburb of Los Angeles. If you want to live in a safer area in NoHo, I recommend the Valley Village area which is the same zipcode: 91601 and has very charming homes without the cookie cutter look you find in new developments.

Both areas are getting a lot of development with MM recently getting massive condominium and apartment complexes with mixed use and NoHo getting a new Laemmles and office buildings.

Honestly, you shouldn't miss checking both areas out. NoHo tends to be more laid back with less traffic, but not as much development as some may like. Also, the valley is newer than the basin, so you will find homes built from around the 1940's and 50's versus much older homes in the basin (MM).

Let us know what you end up deciding. Good luck.

Honestly, I see no way to compare North Hollywood to Miracle Mile... They really have completely different styles, people, politics, and amenities.

There are places in MM that do not have parking difficulties.

Actually, it's 91602.

91606 is the north side of North Hollywood.

Valley Village is 91607.

Yeah, I'm a ZIP Code nerd.

You're right about 91606. I actually mean to say 91601 though. Thats the North Hollywood area where I wanted originally to buy.

Thanks.

I live in the 90048 area of MM and love it. I walk everywhere including work. Haven't moved my car in a week and a half.

Feel free to call it NoHo. Tons of people do.

I'm also from Boston (I'm in my twenties though) and I currently live in NoHo. I live in the 91605 zipcode, which is just outside of the cooler areas. It's very nice, and there's definitely a lot here- but for what you're looking for I'd recommend Los Feliz. It's like the E-Line area in Boston between the Pru and MFA, very nice, kind of hip, lot of arty stuff, and lots to do. There's also a metro stop there (not that public trans is that great- NOTHING like the T) and rent's probably on par or a bit higher than in NoHo.
