My girlfriend and I were stuck in a one year lease in [mod]an apartment building[/mod] just off Vermont, between 4th and 5th. That one year of 2008 was horrible. The cockroach infestation was terrible. It got so bad around the end of our lease that we completely stopped having any food at all in our place... still, they stuck around.

I even felt bad for my cat who would cry for me to scare the roaches away from her food every time she was hungry. No, the cat was not into chasing them down and playing with them, she was just as annoyed and disgusted with them as we were.

We went through a big ordeal to have our apartment fumigated, and coming back home the day after the fumigation, they were already back.

I really want to emphasize this fact... My girlfriend and I are extremely clean people, we are not slobs in the least bit, yet we were cursed as if we were.

As bad as we had the little ones all inside of our apartment, in our halls and crawling all around the outside of the building were those gigantic ones. I'm sure they live in the walls and just can't fit through the cracks to get into the apartment.

One month before our lease was up, we moved... even though we payed for a month that we were not using, we didn't care, we moved anyway. It was that bad that we just couldn't take it anymore. Moving was an ordeal in itself trying to keep all the roaches out of the moving boxes... as hard as we tried, we still brought a few with us. Luckily though, we managed to kill off whatever we brought over with us in the first week or so in our new place and we haven't seen them since.

I would not move back to any part of Korea Town even if I was paid to live there. I'm very happy here in the Mid-Wilshire/West Hollywood area.

To the OP, please keep in mind that many people on this forum like to comment about parts of town they don't live in and don't have first-hand knowledge of, other than driving thru.

Talking Get a cat or a dog = roach Terminator!

My cat (some stray cat) and dog (maltese) is usually the ones who get rid of the roaches in my home
