First off, it’s not home for me anymore ... moved to San Diego over 3 years now.

Second, I didn’t say it was well managed, ever ...

Third, as I read these days, it seems the new mayor and others are starting to confront the problem better, so we’ll see how their efforts play out over time.

What I am saying about “management” is: “rights” being granted does not mean they are unlimited in practical application. I don’t suggest that “rights” to housing should be established ... or not. I am indifferent to the making such official. Rather, in order to best function, our society needs to shelter people who are incapable - temporarily or permanently - of competing for personal space. Simply to get them off the streets, out of functioning society’s way, affordably, without compromising freedoms guaranteed by our constitution and laws. This doesn’t spell what OC apparently fears: luxury obligations for indigent people. As intelligent beings, we are capable of managing the situation within feasible boundaries.

An example of how dumb and dangerous the Democratic Socialists are specifically on the issue of the homeless in L.A

They were literally protesting against the shutting down of the encampment described below .

For all the out of town advocates would you really be ok with this stuff going on in your neighborhood park ?

Out of town advocates talk a big game but we know if it was happening in their neighborhood they would not want it .

——

“The homeless encampment on Poinsettia Place between Romaine Street and Willoughby Avenue is upsetting residents living nearby who complain about car break-ins, trespassing, finding used drug needles and human feces in their yards as well as homeless people openly masturbating, using drugs and harassing people.”

Did anybody else here tune into Doug McIntyre this morning and hear the interview with Joel Grover regarding the L.A. homeless crisis?

Aren't you one of the people claiming that all the homeless are drug addicts or alcoholic? Then please explain to me how they can become self sufficient in a couple months.

The only way anyone in Sacramento is going to be self sufficient is by getting a college degree or the skills to go into a high paying trade. Neither one is cheap. They'll need to be housed so they can pursue an education and/or a job. Not cheap. They'll need to be fed and have access to rehab centers and medical facilities. Also not cheap.

You don't want the homeless to have any of those things because it costs too much, yet you complain when they can't find a job and be self sufficient.

Because they are supposed to be sponsored when they come here. They get the housing, the food stamps, English classes, are taught skills, and many times already have family here. And there is also usually a community of the same immigrants that are already established here who will help the newcomers.

Well, you've now "assumed" two people who have been posting here are trolling. Maybe you should quit attributing that to them.

Why? Prop 2 passed by a huge majority. It should help.

Oh not to worry so much ... Ben Carson has seen the light!
Quote:
Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson announced a record-breaking $2 billion grant for homeless programs across the country ...

“We know how to end homelessness, and it starts with embracing a housing-first approach that relies upon proven strategies that offer permanent housing solutions to those who may otherwise be living in our shelters and on our streets,” Carson told reporters

Oh wait ...that was almost a year ago ... and your Chumpster in the White House has pushed to
Quote:
slash funding for subsidized housing that keeps millions of Americans from experiencing homelessness.
instead ...

Nevermind ... back to vilifying Newsom before he even takes office to address the issue.

My bad.
