Yes! It would! Free bed and breakfast if you pee in front of a cop car! Room and board comes with complimentary shower, toiletries, and doctor visit, medications included no extra charge!

Brilliant. The homeless are so afraid of going to jail...

Traditionally, an apologia is not an apology. It is a justification for one's actions.

Apologia in the Media: Apologia Versus Apology
Your take is both correct and not so, dependent on use and intention. I won’t over parse my take on your intent, other than to say I can’t know, but feel you left it intentionally vague and ambiguously open to interpretation. Philology, semantics, and etymology all can be applied to this without resolution.

what is not open to interpretation, is what you said should be done to the homeless.

An apologia does not by default mean an apology -- nothing ambiguous there.

And as far as what I believe should be done to the homeless, let me be perfectly clear: They should be legally prosecuted for committing crimes such as disfiguring that college boy's face. I do not care what that boy said -- there's no excuse for what that homeless creature did to that boy.

In all likelihood the DA won't prosecute the case, and here is why:

Santa Monica Police Department identified the suspect as 29-year-old Javon Patton who has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Police did not release any more details about Patton’s background or criminal history but told the Daily Press O’Brien threw the first punch. Right, and who is going to pay for this you?

You do realize the prisons would fill up with mostly nonviolent offenders who need to housed, fed, clothed, and need medical attention.

The same article says the homeless guy pushed him first though.

Shame on the L.A District attorney’s office . If you are homeless it seems you can get away with anything even stabbing someone .
Unbelievable they dropped charges .

Because what is relevant is that the college kid threw the first punch. When he struck the homeless guy the pushing had apparently ended so he did not hit him in self defense. And it looks like the DA decided not to prosecute, the guy is still in jail on a probation hold but the charge related to this incident was dismissed due to insufficient evidence. But there's no need to believe me, look it up for yourself:
