ive heard it's good. im going to the new york film academy, chose that one because it's mostly for people who have very little experience in film, and it's at universal studios.

here is a overview of it with a couple comments from students: filmmaking.net | directory : film schools : Los Angeles Film School (LAFS) (http://www.filmmaking.net/directory/filmschools/film_schools_details.asp?id=49 - broken link)

I've also heard it's good. And it dosen't matter about your race.
No one cares and you can live anywhere you want to.

if you're black, really the only places you dont want to live are places with a huge number of mexican gangs. besides that, you will be good anywhere. nobody really cares about race here, and if they do they dont really show it.

they seem about the same, except at lafs you focus on one thing (producing, screen writing, editing, directing or cinematography) while at nyfa your main focus is on directing while you learn everything else. plus nyfa is at universal studios, so you get to shoot on the back lot and use universal's props and costumes.

Do not go to los angeles film school. I went for a little over four months and withdrew. Its a young school, many students do not take it seriously, a lot of instructors are past grads rather than industry pros like at other schools. Way overpriced. Equipment is hard to check out, and many other negative things. Trust me, I left over a month ago and since then I know three others that have followed in my footsteps and thats just from my class!
