Please, let's not get our information from the Newspaper. They simply peddle newspapers because they want people to be afraid, because it keeps them watching and buying, along with the local news who does the same. How many times are they going to blame "gangs", for every crime committed? There are more intelligent and respected people who have studied the conflicts in society, and gang culture, who should be our consultants, not someone who has not thoroughly researched it. It is disheartening when violence strikes, but if we are not aware; "societal violence can remake humans into the image of violence, and rob them of their innocence to be violent themselves." (Miroslav Volf: Professor at Yale) Seeing the responses here definitely displays that society is interconnected, so we should stop pretending that we are simply all individuals, and that our actions don't affect other people. Just my thoughts. Peace.
