Some of those tensions are in Compton, on the streets as well. It isn't limited to the prisons.

No problems with blacks and Hispanics in San Diego. Maybe amongst the gangs and street life.

Consider the LA Riots of 1992. Alot of Korean-owned businesses were targeted. Alot of Koreans went out and bought guns to defend their places of business.

Speaking of morons, do you know what the word "many" means? It's not all or even most. And after living and working in majority Mexican-American areas of Los Angeles, Austin, and Albuquerque yes this is true. It's not exclusive to one group either. There are tons of people of all groups that don't travel across the country or outside of it, that have friends mostly of one ethnic group, that have never left the state they were born in, etc. How do you think we even have so much ethnic strife in the country if everyone is so enlightened, well-traveled, and intermixed with everyone else?

why is it always people who have the least experience with LA that talk the most about it?

Stop hyping up things when you don't really know what going on.
