If the police would have shot him up on the roof, you can bet all the liberals would have come out crying he was posing no threat at the time and did not fire his weapon at anyone, then his family would have sued and claimed it was racism since he is Hispanic etc....this country and especially this state has become a PC wasteland. You lead police on a high speed chase where you endanger innocent people all around you breaking numerous laws, you brandish an assault rifle in the middle of a city street, you trespass on private property with said assault rifle...you deserve to be shot.
You deserve to be shot only when you present an imminent danger to human life, as in pointing a firearm directly at a law officer or civilian. I'm pretty sure if the suspect had done anything like that a sniper would have taken him out.

Yeah he was endangering lives during the chase but it's too dangerous to shoot the driver of a moving car because of the inability to control what the car will do after the driver is dead. Once the car is stopped there is no more danger. That's why they aim for the tires but even then bullets or shot pellets could go astray and injure civilians.

You gotta admit it worked out well in the end and nobody was harmed. Suspect is now a prisoner and everybody got to go home and enjoy their families. And suspect has plenty of new friends to play with.

Wait!?! What?!? There's bears and cougars in this chase? I missed that part!

Great, another inmate to add to the already overcrowded jails in CA costing taxpayers thousands more a year. He did point the weapon at officers while he was driving. Mentally stable people don't do these kinds of things. He's the kind of nut that could probably do some real damage if given another chance. Should have taken him out on the roof.

Why are Ceece and I the only people here who realize that you can't use tranq guns on humans, particularly if they are on a roof? And that the Dept. of Animal Control has the word "animal" in it for a good reason?
According to some persons on this forum, people are animals.

When Harrier claimed otherwise, he was accused of being "anti-science".

Well next time this happens why don't you join the chase with your own gun and shoot the suspect dead and save the taxpayers some money?

(of course I'm not serious)

People are animals, as are dogs, insects, frogs, cows, etc. But they are not the kind of animals that Department of Animal Control has jurisdiction over.

SWAT is there, but I guess only real bullets are allowed.
Seems more humane to have a few snipers on hand with something non lethal to put him out.

I'm sure there's a logical reason, I admit I'm totally ignorant on police policies such as this, (lawsuit if he did get hurt?)
but just wondering why it wouldn't be an option.

So you were there and saw the whole incident and know for sure exactly "when they would have time" to tranquilize this guy?

Someone on top of a building is usually not tranquilized because they will be injured or killed when they fall off the building and hit the ground.
This gives his family plenty of evidence in a lawsuit to gain millions of dollars for free and be rewarded for his criminal activity.
