Anyone know what the commute would be like? My max is about 430 and trying to find a decent area 3 bed 2 bath home in a good area. La Mirada seems like the only place that fits the bill in my price range. Most everything in the OC is out of my range or not in a good area. The wife works in Cypress. Currently live in Long Beach so I'm not a stranger to commuting.

Any thoughts/suggestions on La Mirada? I'm open to ideas on other areas as well.

Thanks!

I'm looking for a single family home. Long Beach doesn't have anything in my price range in a good area.

Tustin, Huntington Beach, and Lake Forest all turn up nothing at all in my price range. On top of that, Tustin and Lake Forest are a bit too far from Cypress for my wife's work.

La Mirada is pretty nice. The schools aren't bad and you are close to shopping in Fullerton, Brea, and Cerritos. It seems like a good compromise between where you will be working and where your wife is working.

There is metrolink service from Buena Park station near Beach & Malvern/La Mirada Blvd. about 1 mile from La Mirada city limits (the Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs station has priority to its resid3nts and requires a permit to park there, so it is a PITA, somjust forget about that station) to Irvine. Free connecting transit or special shuttles for the legions who use Metrolink and work in Irvine. Investigate with your employer or oters who work at your site for precise info. Irv8ne is a heavy use station for commuters who work 7n Irvine. Be aware that parkng at Buena Park overflows to the street as time passes in the morning. You should see the station and parking for yourself. Buena Park is heavily used. Howeverm you can also use Fullerton station 3 miles further east with the fare being a bit less and parking aways available and Fullerton is served by Amtrak as well and is a good back-up to Metrolink and Metrolink MONTHLY pass holders may board Amtrak trains at NO additional charge between your stations. Good luck.

I want to add that La Mirada is a good place to live and is more affordable for housing. You will also find that beyond nice La Mirada you have Whittier and particularly Fullerton with its nice dowtown section with good restaurants stomping grounds for you. Occasional trips to upscale Brea Mall is not far of a drive, either. Brea Mall has the snooty stores when you need them. Whitwood Town Center has some dept, stores and a lot of good cain restaurants and La Habra has a lot retail that would also suit you.
