I still believe Prop 13 is the "Third Rail" in politics... touch it and your gone.

The last time I heard that phrase was at a city council budget session I attended recently.

Prop 13 alive and well in 2007

So, in other words, it is PC to espouse Prop 13.

Note there are a number of issues politicians are scared of altering existing policies on in which the existing policies don't enjoy popular support, current immigration policies being one, prostitution's illegality being another.

I'd like to see a poll on whether Prop 13 still enjoys majority support - which is not the same thing as political correctness.

Here you go. This is almost a decade out of date but I bet the picture hasn't changed. Californians know that Prop 13 has resulted in lousy schools etc. but they don't much care.

Picture(insert 3rd world nation here) and in 10 years we will be just like them. I cannot believe how fast this place is going right down the tubes. I hate to see what is happening, it is not the fun place it used to be.
