East LA??? Are you that hard pressed to live in Los Angeles where you would live in EAST LA???!!

Hell, why not Long Beach, Watts or Compton then?

The biggest transition between LA and other cities is probably the demographics. I grew up very exposed to Mexican culture and that's just not visible in the NW.

I don't miss the trash and graffiti. I do miss the beach and Disneyland.
For more Mexican culture in the PNW you need to go to the smaller cities and rural towns (well, at least to see more Hispanic people as a higher % of the total population).

OP: you're young, and (judging from your handle), female. you should have absolutely no trouble making friends, both male and female here in LA - and you already have! in no time you'll have some BFFs too, and then your social circle in LA will be strong enough that you won't feel homesick anymore.

i think you need to give a place at least 1 - 2 yrs before you have enough friends there. move back to LA if your heart is set on it.

He's helped increase poverty to levels the city hasn't seen since the 1970s/80s.

His wealth during the worst recession of our time went from $16 billion dollars in 2009 to $22 billion in 2012. He's profited from the POVERTY that he's allowed to proliferate over the years.
And that's why Christine Quinn, speaker of the City Council, was so unpopular and got no traction in the NYC mayoral primary. She enabled Bloomberg to snag a third term and rubber stamped much of his agenda.

Yup. All NYers saw was Quinn carrying on Bloomberg's agendas from the sidelines.

What many people in NYC aren't aware of is that Walter Thompson is Bloomberg's back pocket as well. I already saw him as a Bloomberg clone. He wanted to continue Stop & Frisk and his policies mirrored Bloomberg's too.

Come to find out, I wasn't too far off. A Village Voice article written in 2010 showed just how "close" and "in bed" these two really were:
