Took me 30 minutes this morning from Woodland Hills to Downtown. Left home at 6:45AM. Of course, there was no traffic due to Veterans Day so the commute would usually take on average 1hr - 1.5hrs.

Default 1 Hour Before 7, 1 1/2 to 2 After

Me and my girlfriend both drive that route from WH weekdays. We've been doing it for almost a year. Here's the deal:

Before 7 a.m. it's pretty quick on the 101. She gets on at Shoup and drives to Downtown from WH in less than an hour. Sometimes even in 30 minutes. But she also leaves at 6 a.m.

After 7 a.m., it's more difficult. I hop on the 101, via Shoup, at 7:30 and it usually takes me about 40 minutes to 1 Hour just to get to the 134 interchange. From there, you can probably count on another 30 minutes or more to downtown, as the 101 gets really congested in Burbank/Universal City. Best days for the 101 are Friday mornings and Holidays.

As for side streets, I often take Victory all the way into Burbank instead of the 101. It's probably the fastest of all the side streets. As a warning, it does get congested in the Lake Balboa area, but clears out pretty quickly. Whatever you do, don't take Burbank Blvd. east from WH. This used to work, but lately construction and general congestion has that street at a standstill from about White Oaks all the way East past the 405 Overpass.
