Hello, My name is Alexis I plan on moving to California next year. I am not too sure where to start or where to look. Just a little about me I am moving from Romeoville, IL. I am 22 years old, African American, quiet, I enjoy going to the movies, cafes and etc... I am used to living where I can walk to everything I need to and I know LA isn't exactly like that. Any advice? I appreciate it and Thank you so much. Also, I think I am considering Santa Monica.

There's walkable areas in LA. Most importantly, what's your budget?

lol

Since you don't have a budget, you should get a place right in front of Santa Monica beach.

Let's be real here. You are 22 and moving from the Midwest: you have a budget. You haven't even said what you are coming to LA for, if it's school or if you have a job already. But you most certainly will have a budget.

Not budget. How about a job? Don't have/need one of those?

It's funny how so many people come to the forum wanting to move to CA who make a fortune working 2 hours a day on their computer from home so nothing really matters. If you are one of those please enlighten us, nobody has ever bothered to share the secret of their success with anyone. If you do, I'll tell you where it's good to live

I am a freelance fashion designer. 90% of my clients are in LA. I am trying to save money by moving to LA or closer. Because, flying back and forth to CA from Illinois is alot. Sorry, I wasnt very detailed in my post.

LOL! Do you have a eight figure trust fund? Yes, I said eight figure - not seven, not six. If so, then maybe you don't have a budget. And in that case, I'd recommend buying a house in Santa Monica.... small two-three bedroom ones can easily be 2 million dollars, and a typical two story larger house will be 4-5 million.

You have a budget. How much are you planning to pay a month on rent??

Do you mean "No budget", as in "Money is no object", or "No budget", as in...

What the hell DO you mean?

Request info about an area, but withhold pertinent information about one's situation. That's always a good combination.
