Depends on where you live and where you want to go.

Several people walk. In south bay, especially venice, manhattan, hermosa, people will bike to/near the bars, then take a cab home.

When I go to hollywood, I always take a cab. police activity is heavy.
Going to santa monica, you can catch a bus down wilshire, santa monica blvd.

In the san fernando valley, you can hop a bus or cab to ventura blvd pretty easily.

Any bar or restaurant will call a cab for you.

Designated driver is an option too.

Buena Vista Street would be a good option. There are lots of duplexes and triplexes there. Since it's a major street, it would be pretty easy to catch a bus.

Yes, this and Riverside or anywhere near the mall (almost every bus goes there plus the Metrolink station is at the bottom of the hill).
