Depends on the area. There are are so many different neighborhoods. You really have to be more specific for us to give you a good answer. The city is huge and sprawling. What are you looking for? Do you have a family?

Most of the areas in West LA (West of La Brea and north of 10) and also the coastal neighborhoods are safe.

San Gabriel Valley is safe (Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, etc). East LA can get dicey.

Just avoid South Central LA (South of 10, East of 405, West of 110).

There are really no safe places in LA. There are just degrees of safety. Even in "safe" suburban areas, there are drug dealers, drug users, rape, bank robberies, home burglaries, car thefts, assaults, shootings. It happens less frequently, but it still happens.

ummm no.....Unless you mean that anything can happen at any time in any city......This idea that L.A is so dangerous is insane. It's like any other large urban area.
