After living in Germany for ten years, we decided to move to Pasadena to assist my mother. It will be myself, hubbie, mom, and and our two little furballs. For the time being, we will live off of savings until we can both find a job. What is the average cost for the following please:

1. Electricity/Gas
2. Water
3. Cable, Phone, and Internet (no extras needed here)
4. Groceries (no dining out)
5. Gas (commuting back and forth everyday within a 12 mile radius)
6. Vet Care (general wellness and grooming)
7. Rent (cheaper to rent apt or house? Prefer a two bedroom in a safe neighborhood and preferably close to Old Pasadena)

Thank you so much!

I live here and we are a family with a 2 year old. Here is what we spend:

1. Gas $100/mo
2. Water/Electricity $400/every 3 months these two are bundled by the city. Dont forget, these utilities can go up in the winter months when you may be running your heat, stove and oven more
3. Cable, Phone, and Internet (no extras needed here) Will you have a land line or cell?
4. Groceries (no dining out) $140 week
5. Gas (commuting back and forth everyday within a 12 mile radius) $gas here is running about $4.10 a gallon right now
6. Vet Care (general wellness and grooming) Varies by clinic
7. Rent (cheaper to rent apt or house? Prefer a two bedroom in a safe neighborhood and preferably close to Old Pasadena) Apartments and homes are very similar in rent. Apartments charge a lot in rent for their amenities (gym, pool, clubhouse, parking) so it is a wash. We rent a 1500 sq foot home for $3000. Rule of thumb - the nicer areas of Pasadena are more expensive. South Pasadena, East Pasadena and Old Pas. are safe.

Thank you Daisy for your reply. Looking at a LAN line for telephone. What companies offer bundle packages for cable/internet/phone in the area?
