Moving out there with a few friends here in a couple months. I'm just trying to get as many opinions as I can before I look for myself. We are 3 friends moving out there, and looking for a fun and happening environment. Plan is to get jobs waiting/tables and bartending initially. We would like to be in a decently affordable location and will be able to spend UP TO $2200/month or so on rent. We have been looking at the long beach area which seems to be decent, but what other suggestions are there, or is LB a bad one to begin with?

Check-out Huntington Beach since is seems to have the lifestyle you are after.

Beverly Hills is allright, especially with that kind of money!
You could rent a whole house for like 6,000 that would put you to 2k each, well under your fat budget.

Just so you're aware, that budget will probably leave 2 of you sharing a bedroom, especially if that figure includes utilities.

Have you looked into West Hollywood? It lacks a beach lifestyle, but you probably won't get bored living here.

It doesn't include utilties, but by looking on craigslist it seems like a fair budget for rent :dunno:

LB has its own thing going on but it's not as good as LA.

Good areas for mid 20s guys: South Santa Monica (but might be too expensive for your budget), Venice Beach, West Hollywood, Mid-Wilshire, parts of Hollywood.

You're finding 3 bedrooms for $2200 on CL?

Good luck finding bartending positions! If most Angelenos themselves can't find them, then I definitely don't know how you're going to find one. (not to sound rude, but that's just the unfortunate reality of the current situation).
