Isn't Palms on the "Westside"?

Studio City vs Palms

Studio City vs Culver City

What is more "desirable" in terms of "status" and "quality of life" I suppose?

There are plenty of really nice neighborhoods in the valley and plenty of dumpy ones on the westside, so yes, absolutely.

why does it matter which is more desirable? it's like asking which is more desirable, apples or oranges. if you find a place you like, then live there and enjoy yourself.

True. I just thought it was interesting because I been reading lots of older topics on this forum with so much talk about the "westside" and everything west of the 405 as being most desirable... I just thought it was an interesting topic. A lot of celebs live in the valley too, especially Studio City (in the hills) even though supposedly the west is more desirable..

Also, is Studio City considered "The Valley" or not really since it is so close to Hollywood... ?

i would take westside just on the temperature factor. So for me personally, just my opinion, i would take anything on the westside over anything in the valley, assuming all else is equal.

studio city is definitely the valley and gets hot, much moreso than anywhere on the westside. anything north of mulhooland is in the valley.

Ugh, I didn't think it would get so hot in Studio City. I'm in OC and already being baked alive

I drove up there last weekend to check out a place and I really like the location; it was my first time in SC. I also really, really like Ventura blvd. Everything is so accessible and right there; Trader Joes, gym, Ralphs, Urban Outfitters, even Bikram Yoga and tons and tons of restaurants. It just looks like it would be a sweet place to live and close to Hollywood too as well as safe.

I read older threads on this board and everyone said to stay South of Ventura, however, the place I found is North of Ventura, it's just half a mile away and around the 101 freeway. There are no apartment complexes South of Ventura Blvd as far as I know; it's all million dollar homes in the "hills" part of Studio Hills...

Is it really THAT bad to be .5 miles North of Ventura? There is even a Whole Foods North of Ventura where celebs have been known to shop (Angelina Jolie recently, I googled)...

Also, a bit off topic but most people who live in We Ho area just park on the street or pay extra for a unit with covered parking? It seems like most affordable apartments come with street parking except the more upscale ones... those come with garage or underground parking...

Once I drive past Mulholland going over the hill on Laurel Canyon, I consider it to be "The Valley"
Studio City along Ventura blvd is a great area though. My best friend lives right in the heart of it all and I frequent the "over the hill" trek a couple times a week at least.

Ever been to Hidden Hills? Just as desirable and richer than nearly all Westside communities.
I wouldn't live in the valley though for weather reasons.
