Hi I currently live in Melbourne, Australia. I'm looking at moving over to Los Angeles. What is the cost of living over there? Also is it easy to get employment?

Is this a good place to start of fresh as I'm over living in Melbourne Australia.

Melbourne is often ranked as one of the most livable cities in the world. Why would you want to leave?

The U.S. economy is limping along...and the unemployment rate in Los Angeles (approx. 12%) is ABOVE the national rate. So jobs are not easy to find right now.

If you want to rent a decent to nice apartment (on your own) you are looking at $1,400 to $1,800 per month for rent. If you get roomates then the rental cost would decline.

Too high.

No. Absolutely not.

No. Absolutely not.

Stay in Australia or check out one of the smaller states like Kansas, Montana, or Kentucky or something.

Sorry to be a downer, but the truth is the truth.

The layout of Melbourne is similar to L.A. Both cities are spread out over large areas.
But before moving to the USA, you must have a work permit/visa (unless you are super rich & don't need to work).

Wouldn't you prefer a change of climate? Melbourne and L.A. are very similar in that respect.
