* NY style pizza's are a joke here in LA. I'm not sure if it's the tap water or the sourcing of the flour or the lack of a cohesive Italian community, but the texture of the crust here is totally different. I can't say it's bad because I've grown up with it.

* Don't miss out on Langer's pastrami down near MacArthur Park. And the corned beef at Brent's in Northridge is to die for.

* If you're into dim sum, definitely head over to Elite in Monterey Park.

Is it the Hollenbeck burrito that if you eat the whole thing they give you another one for free? Agree that El Tepeyac has the best burritos but King Taco have the best tacos and they have several locations around Los Angeles.

Best Mexican for my money is Salsa and Beer in the Lake Balboa/Van Nuys area. May be a bit out of the way for you, but it's worth the trip if feasible!

You can get good NY pizza at Joe's Pizza in Santa Monica--which came here from NY. Also, Vito's in West Hollywood.
