Hi:

I was asked by one of the landlords in LA to give the above information for me and all the applicants who are going to be in the lease.

So far I have been to apartments who own more than 100 units and I normally give these information to them. This time the landlord has just 2 units that he is renting (ie. dividing his house into 2). Do I still need to provide these information? I have never seen him in person as I live in different place. All my conversation was on phone. Any one please kindly advise.

He wants to check your credit, like any other landlord.

To avoid this problem, as a landlord what I do is have the perspective tenant provide a current credit report along with their application.
This way I don't need that information.
You might ask the landlord if it would be sufficient for you to submit your credit report with your application..
If you are leary about devulging your ss number when you submit the report, black out the number.
Bob.
