Everything that the cops do to stop this should be applauded. This isn't pot, it's seriously dangerous stuff, and it's rampant. Somewhere along the line the fear elicted by heroin has subsided and middle class kids are okay with taking it..either that or it's just so cheap that people are willing to try it.

Also, and I'm not meaning to turn this into an illegal immigration thread..but most of the heroin is coming from Mexico. With un-controlled borders you get cheaper heroin.

Before my brother died he was saying that Heroin was much much cheaper than pot, he could get a packet for 5 bucks. Thats really cheap and very dangerous.

Actually most of the heroin comes from the Taliban in Afghanistan. We shut it down during the 1st Gulf War and Bushy-boy let it go unchecked during Iraq (when he ignored Afghanistan completely). It funds the Taliban and most terrorism and while it may come in from Mexico, it also comes in on planes all over and through Canada.

The two main problems as you point out are that a) it is cheaper (not much more than a pack of cigarettes these days and b) since it is so much more potent than in the past, it can be snorted or smoked which makes it easier for young middle class kids to use without needles or the stigma of "shooting up".

I hate to be political but our war on drugs is such a pathetic sham. We are the LARGEST (by far) importer of illegal drugs in the world. Now we are the largest users (abusers) of LEGAL (prescription) drugs in the world. America is stoned. We are addicted to drugs like we are addicted to oil and major forces are getting richer for it everyday with big lobbyists on their teams and politicians in their pockets.

Legalize all of it. Tax it and decriminalize it. If alcohol is legal, so should pot and other drugs. Anything else is hypocracy and delusion. Take the criminality out of it. Regulate it and treat the addict as a patient and the DEALER as a criminal.

The status quo DOES NOT WORK!
