What happened to the Middle of this Island?

I just got back from the City with my kid. Figured we'd save a little bit of time and take the rail out of Ronkonkoma instead of Port Jeff.
Havent rode the line on the weekend in years. Wont be doing that again.

What a disaster, heroin addicts, pan handlers, day laborers the ghetto fabulous and trailer trash descended on that line on every stop from Ronko to Wyandanch to Hicksville.

The Conductor had to call the cops on one skel who tried to pay with a kids ticket then got physical with him when he suggested he pay the full fare.

If the Main Line is any indication of where the center of this island is at these days then the Middle has indeed fallen for good.
Next time Ill just drive to Queens and hop on th E for less BS or suffer along on the PJ line.

Scary stuff.

Long Island is filled with trash, have you missed that? Try any line (save port-washington) at like 2AM in the morning- you'll see the cops are called on a car-to-car basis. People screaming, spilling stuff- you can cast the next season of Jersey Shore with the patrons on any given train car.

Port Jeffs not that bad most of the time but then again its empty due to its paralysis.

It's not that much better in South Jersey.

My best friend cracks me up - she judges people's houses by what LIRR line their house is closest to. When I bought in GC she was like YOU'RE ON THE HEMPSTEAD LINE!!!! When her sister bought in Centereach she told me "she's crazy - that's on the line that goes thru Wyandanch"

1- none of the above commutes
2- she drives to work in a company car

So the city isn't a nightmare - the commute is!

Yes the Ronkonkoma line has taken a turn for the worse. Wyandanch, Brentwood, and CI usually get the trash.
When taking a train out of Ronkonkoma I try and sit in the front of the train, since the stationhouses at CI and Brentwood are toward the rear.
So most of the ghetto trash gets on over there.
It seems day laborers are unavoidable on public transportation, or anywhere on LI, but the Ronk line does make stops in Illegalwood and Central America, so it can get hit hard with 'em. . And the sad thing is it's the middle of winter, what are they still doing out landscaping?
I wish they'd have a train that skips Wyandanch, Brentwood, and CI!

Yeah it is. I've taken the bus to Toms River numerous times, usually a much better crowd than the Ronkonkoma line. No stops in 3rd world towns...thats why. Pineys dont bother me, I'll deal with them anyday over the illegals. Actually we used to have more "Pineys" on Long Island before the rich snobs started pricing them off LI. Pineys dont like illegals, they shoot 'em.

Didn't you know, The Jersey Shore is moving to Long Island. It will now be filmed in the Hamptons. A much more appropriate place, IMO.

This is so true - the ronkonkoma line has really gone to sh**. I just started taking this line and it has me depressed.

The LIRR servine on the ronkonkoma line sucks as well. After 8pm on weekdays there's only 1 train every hour. I'm moving to the mineola area as soon as I can.
