We are currently looking at houses in the Shoreham/Wading River area. Anyone have any information on the area off of Ridge Road called Island Estates. Is this actually Shoreham? It has a Shoreham zip code and uses SWR school district but some of the searches actually show this as Ridge? Any info. Also any recomendations to other nice areas in these towns. Thank you.

FYI the SD is having some financial difficulty(Middle School is "crumbling") so the taxes are a BIG ? right now.
They just jumped 24% and are due to jump again SIGNIFICANTLY.
Id put Mt Sinai/Miller Place and Rocky Point on your radar.

The Hamlet of Ridge has a different border than does the "Ridge, NY 11961" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Ridge, NY 11961" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Ridge and a place can have other than a "Ridge, NY 11961" mailing address and be in the Hamlet of Ridge): places that have a "Ridge, NY 11961" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Ridge are in the Hamlet of East Shoreham and the Hamlet of Yaphank; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Ridge with a "Shoreham, NY 11786" mailing address.

I grew up in Shoridge Hills in Shoreham! It really is nice. Very friendly and they used to have block parties, 4th of July parades, etc. Great to be so close to the water.
Crooks you have good taste ;-) and we have never called it East Shoreham.
Shoridge Hills is just a section of Shoreham. If you are going east on North Country Rd. you will see it on your left just before the road forks- S. Hills is to the left, N. Country Road to Wading River is on the right.
