Not BS. I'm confident you'd be able to replicate it yourself in five weeks. They were in the closed box on the counter for that long.

Mold seeks MOISTURE, WARMTH, and FOOD, and all three conditions are necessary for it to grow.
I'm guessing it didn't have moisture. And probably not warmth considering you were away with the heat off?

If it had cheese on it, that MIGHT grow mold.

Im sure if you left a Twinkie out on the counter it would look just fine. So what does that prove? Nothing really because, as everyone knows, a Twinkie is one of the major food groups.

We didn't leave the heat on, but it wasn't overly cold because there's always heat rise from the unit below. The nuggets were still fresh when they were left behind, so there was some moisture in the chicken... I assume they dried out before there was a chance to mold. The old nuggets were slightly shrunken.

Having said that, my older brother passed away in 2004 from brain cancer. He lived in Shirley.
Sorry for your loss. But you should google "brookhaven lab cancer settlement". There is also a book called "Welcome to Shirley: A Memoir from an Atomic Town" that will tell more. Best of luck.
