Hello people, I am looking to move from Valley Stream to Huntington In about a month. Can anyone suggest a good moving company at a good rate (because of the new "big" mortgage)?

HIGHLY recommend A&J Moving and Storage in Mineola. They have moved us for our past few moves, and we are now using them for our big move to NJ next month:

Good luck!

We used Hall-Lane movers and they were reasonable and did a great job for a local move. They'll come out and do an actual visual to give you a proper estimate.

Just recently used Men on the Move and was very satisfied! Professional, courteous and no "dragging their feet"; also listened to requests with regard to what goes where without grumbling. Oh, and reasonable...

Oh and I forgot to mention, we ended up getting money back from Hall Lane since the guys finished an hour and a half earlier than what was estimated (we prepaid since we were paying by credit card and it was a Saturday and the office was closed, had we moved on a weekday we would have paid after)

I have a friend in the moving business who told me to get 2-3 estimates for your move, they should all be around each other. The lowballs are the ones you have to be wary of they are usually the ones you hear about quoting you 2000 and charging 15K to get your stuff off the truck.........

I was wondering...what are the typical rates for moving? Any reason to stay away from some of the Craigslist ADs that say $50-60/hr with 2 men and a truck?
