It seems I inherited bad line from house to cesspool and the pump guy said my line might be obstructed, he said instead of trying to fix the line, I should consider getting a new system installed (he doesn't do it so he said he is not telling me that because he wants to sell me a new system).

Has anyone dealt with something like this recently? He said trying to fix the lines is like a band aid and I still have to keep calling him to pump the tank because it's too old.

Any suggestions, or any companies you can recommend including cost, what to expect? He suggests putting it under the driveway for easy access and not to mess the landscaping (not that I have a lot) but he says it's easier to fix the driveway than the front yard and all those plants since they have dig a lot of it to run the lines if I keep it in front yard.

No! You should never park or put weight from above on your cesspool..

if you are in central suffolk, call Battlin Barrys for a fair diagnosis

Thank you, that's what I was thinking at first but I thought maybe newer ones are sturdier since technically we drive over this type of lines on the road all the time. I was also thinking shouldn't it be easier to remove then plant the bushes back after done?
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll reach out to them.

Get a 2nd or 3rd opinion. Suffolk is trying to do away with the old cast ring cesspools in favor of a very costly $xx,xxx. septic system.

Thanks, will I have to just keep paying guys to come and snake or inspect the line? I suppose I should at least get a camera inspection once for sure to confirm the condition of the pipe.
What else can be done? Maybe stick camera down to the cesspool.

That is as it should be. Cesspools are awful for groundwater. It appears the current code for Suffolk County forbids replacing a cesspool with another cesspool.

It seems like you can get a septic system instead of a cesspool, but doesn't have to be the nitrogen system that is complicated and requires electrical installation as well.

Only new builds require the fancy new one.
Ground water shouldn't be an issue if people don't flush chemicals and use environmentally friendly detergents etc.

You can't replace a cesspool.
You can only refurbish it or else you will need to switch to a septic tank.
And a septic tank will need a leaching pool.
Pay someone to snake it with a camera and give you a report.
A root probable ate away the pipe.

How many bedrooms does the house have?
