Please help us all decide on the best move to make for my son and wife and 2 children and my husband , me and special needs adult daughter. I know the waiver orograns are much cheaper in FL than NY but we want to weigh it all thanks
Not comparable at all.
Each has the very obvious pros & cons.
Jupiter ain’t “cheap” either.
Cheapest house on the market is over half mil.
Taxes while generally lower than Suffolk, are not cheap either.
You will get beat over the head with hazard insurances as well.
And also factor in a monthly pest control bill.
NY probably has more special needs programs.
Btw…Palm Beach County is THE most expensive county in FL.
Why do you come back here, repeatedly asking the same question in different ways? No one can answer this for you. Do your research.
I have a friend who does this. Asks everyone he knows for advice, repeatedly, and then does the complete opposite. And then, complains endlessly and annoyingly, and gets angry when he gets the I told you so’s.
Now I remember the OP from years back.
If I remember your child needs a liver specialist that is not available in many places. I think you found out StonyBrook had one. Maybe see what is available down in FL to see if that suits your needs medically. If Fl doesnt maybe that answers your question for you.

Nothing is worse when someone asks for advice then tries to argue about it. So why did you even ask me in the first place!??
Why are you so mean? I can’t visit there now I will in. future when I lived on LI people were so nice to me . Surely you can describe there are drs for all I need in both states I want to be with my grandchildren, I want to know currently what it’s like I never lived in Jupiter
No one is being mean to you. You have given us no meaningful information to help you. What is your budget? You said your son can travel anywhere for his job, but does he need to go into an office? Where is that office located? Does he need access to public transportation to commute?
Give us more information and we can help narrow down some towns for you and give you an idea of how those towns are.
Suffolk country runs the gamut from Brentwood to the Hamptons. The quality of life and experiences in each place varies wildly.
If you want to know what it's like to live in Jupiter ask on the FL forum. How many people do think there are here who have experience living both places, let alone in your exact situation? Frankly you're more likely to find an ex-pat NYer on the Florida forum anyway.
Suffolk county. There. I decided for you.
Forget about Florida mmmk?
Start looking in Suffolk.
