New york's first female governor creates a healthcare crisis and then won't release the daily data on how many people have been fired

Now nursing homes are saying the media is lying. They say we have a healthcare worker shortage and the governor says everything is ok

https://nypost.com/2021/10/06/ny-nur...g-vax-mandate/

Nursing homes desperately seeking relief from staffing shortages tied to New York’s new COVID-19 vaccine mandate are being told “we do not have any staff to offer you or any other nursing homes” upon calling the hotline specifically set up to help plug vacancies, The Post has learned.

“Despite what the media says, currently, we do not have any staff to offer you or any other nursing homes. I will log you in our system,” a state Department of Health staffer manning the agency’s “Surge and Flex Operations Center” hotline told one nursing home, when they asked about getting reinforcements on Oct. 4 — just one week after the mandate’s effective date.

“Feel free to call with updates, but no need to call daily hoping this will be your lucky day,” the operator told the disappointed nursing home.

The stark reality contradicts Gov. Kathy Hochul’s public statements since the mandate took effect Sept. 27, as well as an executive order she signed declaring there’s a reserve of healthcare employees ready to backfill positions following resignations or terminations.

Another nursing home industry source reached out on Sept. 29 to the hotline who was told “they do not have any staff.”
“They are aware that it was mentioned in the news regarding vaccine mandate staffing issues,” wrote the source, according to internal communications obtained by The Post

But Hochul dug in during a Tuesday press conference when probed about the state’s refusal to release data pertaining to worker shortages in nursing homes or hospitals, which are required to be reported to the DOH in daily surveys.

“We set up a system to be responsive to any institution that needed help,” Hochul told reporters in Albany Tuesday.

Still waiting for all the fired healthcare workers to band together and “spill the beans”.
If there’s any truth to this, be very interesting if this actually happens.

Since vaccinated folks frequently catch and spread Covid, the entire rationale for firing unvaccinated workers is a joke.

Heck, Pfizer itself admits protection against infection for ‘fully vaccinated’ individuals (and that includes healthcare workers, hospital visitors, hospital patients, etc) drops to 47% after five months. And, of course, that duration of protection may vary widely from one person to another.

(It is true, but an unrelated point, that infected and fully vaccinated folks may generally avoid hospitalization and death.)

try researching more of the findings .

latest studies from the netherlands and oxford show the providence study which was the one that showed both unvaccinated and vaccinated spew same amount of viral loads the study as usual was not conclusive .

they never took it the extra step and cultured the virus .

within a day or two the vaccinated virus had trouble replicating as much nor did it pack the punch in most cases of the unvaccinated virus .

so these amateur seat of the pants comments posted here are exactly that ...comments by those who are not experts nor even cite expert opinions

Strawman. There is no claim viral loads are identical. Seat of-the-pants reaction.

Given the growing realization that the vaccines wane rather dramatically in terms of infection protection it is no surprise strawmen abound:

Effectiveness against infections was 88% during the first month after a person was vaccinated, but dropped to 47% after five months, according to the study. The authors said that the spread of the Delta variant wasn’t responsible for the drop in efficacy against infection over time.

The study was conducted by scientists at Pfizer (ticker: PFE) and at Kaiser Permanente Southern California, a large healthcare system, and was funded by Pfizer.

Undercuts the dingbat theory that unvaccinated workers should be fired because they may be infected with the covid virus and transmit the covid virus.

(It is also true that the vaccinated are unlikely to die from transmission via unvaccinated or vaccinated folks.)

The viral loads were originally believed to be 8 to 10x less in vaccinated in the first Israeli study .

The providence study demonstrated that was false …..vaccinated could spew as much viral material as unvaccinated.

Subsequently the Netherlands and oxford went the extra step and cultivated the virus and found most definitely there was less power and replicating going on from a virus that was exposed to the vaccine..

Overall the virus acted sickly after a day or two of being cultivated and allowed to replicate

So the effects of the virus tend to be way diminished that can be spread for the most part . Unlike the initial providence study that said it can be spread equally by vaccinated and unvaccinated

Effectiveness of the vaccine diminishes over time. So like flu shots we may need new ones over time

It is the dramatic loss of effectiveness (if you consider a drop to 47% in five months to be dramatic) in preventing infection that is the eye opener.

And, of course, there will be wide variations from individual to individual.

Obviously, that eviscerates any argument that vaccinated folks won’t get infected and transmit the disease. Far from it.

And about those silly vaccine passports (given the science)…

(It is also true that vaccinated folks are generally not in danger of death or severe illness from infection via vaccinated or unvaccinated folks…so wiser folks will get vaccinated for Covid…and flu BTW)

With more and more getting covid daily the combination of the Vaccines and natural immunity can work a lot better.

It is like how we use seat belts and air bags where the combo is better than either alone

Wait, so you’re using a study that shows another study wasn’t done correctly?
Do you now understand why any study, including the studies that disprove another study, should be taken with a grain of salt?

And yes, while not a doctor or real scientist (I don’t count Comp Sci) I do have first hand knowledge of this.

Note: Celebrex was deemed safe by the FDA in 2018(?) after a review by an advisory council.

But this shows what goes on regarding studies and research, because it’s about money and funding.

After a popular medical conference decided to feature a study claiming that Celebrex was safer on the stomach, one researcher sent an email to a colleague that said “They swallowed our story, hook, line and sinker.”

The documents in the case were revealed in 2000. Since then, they have provided evidence that Pfizer officials used calculated, strategic decisions to make the data on Celebrex look better. One employee wrote “Worse case: we have to attack the trial design if we do not see the results we want.” However, there was also criticism within the company. An associate medical director called the practice “data massage,” while another medical director at Pfizer criticized it as “cherry-picking the data.”

The employees whose quotes were published by the Times deny that they were referring to the Celebrex scandal. In other cases, Pfizer officials have declined to comment on behalf of the quoted employees.
