I saw an article today saying in order to live comfortably on LI for a family of 4, you need $139k a year … but the article did not take into consideration things like school loans & it didn't define what living 'comfortably' means.

I don't think I could do it on that salary … for a family of 4, no way. I mean if you never do anything fun, sure ...

Take the focus off of material things and worrying about what certain people think of you and life gets better. Money does not buy happiness. You can get by and still enjoy life without 6 & 7 digit incomes. If anything, you will cherish and appreciate what you do have greatly.

I hope this is a facetious comment, but if not, you should spend a few seconds on Google to illustrate how dumb this is. Average at-the-pump prices were near record highs a year before Obama took office, and his last two years they were lower than they had been since 2005. Lower than 2017 and 2018.

The POTUS also doesn't sit in his office dictating gas prices, so there's that...

I’m reading these post and the “Average “ people are saying they need is between $130k-$200k on Ll
So why are people then complaining that cops make $150k +/- and teachers are overpaid?
Here we go again..........decade after decade, the same post/arguments on here.

Ohhhhh, and don’t use the excuse the cop makes $150k and his wife is a teacher making $150k for a total of $300k Because there are some cops/teachers where they’re spouses make $20k PT at a retail store = 170k +/-
We all have choices on who we marry, what occupation we choose, ect, ect, ect......

So because a household needs $200k to maintain, it’s ok to pay gym teachers $150k since they need it? By your logic, We may as well raise the minimum wage for LI residents to $100 per hour. We need more people like you.

I am NOT saying gym teachers should make $150k and minimum wage $100.
I am just stating what I read on here day after day. Decade after decade “Cops are overpaid and teachers make $150k per year”

Then the next topic would be “You need to make $200k ++++++ to live on LI”
So which is it?

What does how much money a household needs to survive on Long Island have to do with what a cop or teachers salary should be?

Because I need $150-$200k to survive on LI, it’s justifiable to overpay me?

Because everyone wants to be a bigshot.
That's the problem. More more more.
Nothing is ever enough.
Cops, teachers, politicians, they are over paid.
