Hi all, my wife got a speeding ticket in Garden City for doing 49mph in a 30mph. I'm trying to find out if anyone knows whether Garden City has a plea down program where you plead not guilty and when you go in person to court they plead you down from a points violation to basically a huge fine. Trying to decide whether it makes sense to fight this on our own or to hire a traffic attorney. Thanks!
GC is a world by itself.
Years ago my BIL got a speeding ticket there - 27 in a 25 zone. On Christmas Eve. He was in his National Guard Uniform, driving back from a meeting at the armory there.
No plea deal offered. Hopefully things have changed.
I am assuming it was a GC cop that issued it correct? My advice is to simply bite the bullet and pay it. If she were within a couple of MPH she might stand a chance, but at just shy of 20 mph over the limit. I doubt even Houdini could make that one happen.
This isn't true IME. I've had a number of tickets reduced to zero points for clients in various villages in Nassau and Suffolk.
Same here. A few years back I got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign and ended up pleading it down to no seatbelt (village court)
