Well, if you commute to NYC, add additional time to your commute as commack does not have a train station.
West half of Commack is Huntington Township, east half is Smithtown. If you live in the Huntington part, you can park at the Huntington train station.
Also be aware that Huntington township is currently being challenged by LIPA on tax assessments of the Northport power plant. If LIPA wins the downgraded assessment and is awarded back payments on the lower assessment, the taxpayers of Huntington township may be on the hook. I believe the homes in the school districts of Northport and East Northport will be hit especially hard, but the entire township may be affected.

Whichever half you live in, Deer Park train station is generally a better one to use. Easier to get to and parking is free.
Someone probably does get offended and tips off a mod.
Happens to me all the time.
Not everybody gets, or appreciates my deadpan sarcastic sense of humor.
I can't argue with that. It can be dangerous. This I can attest to.
It's not like its so dangerous that it ruins every town within its orbit. If that were the case then all of Long Island and New York City would be bad, but we all know that's not true.
Fear of being close to Brentwood? That's ridiculous. Do you think everyone in Brentwood is plotting to go to nicer towns and commit crime there?
I am not really familiar with Brentwood but the northern part near Washington Avenue did not seem so bad to me.
Anyway there has been far too much talk on this thread about the negativity of Brentwood. Most people in Brentwood are not criminals. Not only is it insulting to working and middle class people in Brentwood, it is not a huge factor for most of Commack. The Commack-Brentwood border is a small area, most of it is taken up by an industrial park (part of the Hauppauge Business area is actually in Commack). And the border with Brentwood is actually one of Commack's smaller boundaries with neighboring communities.
Kings Park
Smithtown
Hauppauge
Brentwood
Dix Hills
Elwood
East Northport
Fort Salonga
Looks to me like the majority of Commack's neighbors are pretty solid.
