Would anyone know if there's a way to tell if a homeowner has grieved his taxes in the past?
Sometimes, you come upon a listing (with high taxes) and it'll say that the taxes were never grieved. How does one know they're telling the truth?

Are you talking Nassau or Suffolk? Nassau shows tax payments over time.

In Nassau... Can I tell whether a homeowner has grieved his taxes in the past? Some listings say the home's taxes are high because they have never been grieved. So does a prospective buyer take the homeowner on his word and believe that the taxes, once grieved, will probably go down? Or can it be verified that the home owner did/did not file grievances in the past, and the taxes on record are the result of past grievances and what you can expect to pay in the future?

Yes, go to the mynassauproperty.com website and pop in the address or section, lot and block number and go to the tax section. Play around there and you will see the history.
