Oh that's too bad. I already had gas for hot water and cooking but had oil for heat.

Called a couple of places over the weekend.

Perillo:
$1.99 1st fill, $2.199 fixed, $164 2 year service contract, $100 credit

Meenan:
Fixed $2.199, Ceiling $2.269, $99 service contract 1 year

Anyone have any suggestions in terms of attempting to get the service thrown in free? I attempted with no luck. Did not commit to either yet

For first time customers, Meenan always offer a free service contract ($100) credit.

Anyone know of a good way to compare how much you'd save by converting to gas? I figured it would cost about $10,000 (town of Huntington) to complete it. Not sure how many years it'll take for the conversion to pay off.

Looking at national grid, they're saying oil is $4 a gallon, but I paid around $2 a gallon last year, and looks like that's what people are getting this year:

I have NO idea. But if you save $500 per year, that 20 YEARS to break even.
Not worth it.

ONLY worth converting if your in need of a New boiler.

Just wanted to recommend Hart; they've been great and they didn't play the game where they raised my rate astronomically after the first year.

$10,000 is about right, but since I already had gas hooked up for stove and hot water I basically just had to pay for a new gas boiler and labor which was about $3500 in 2008. My MIL paid around $10,000 2 years ago. She had propane for cooking and oil for hot water and heat. she had to have a complete conversion, plus her old oil tank had to be removed.

Got quoted $2.89 on a ceiling plan from Meenan on a renewal. $99.95 service contract.

Was paying $2.09 last year as a new customer. Would rather not shop around but, .80 a gallon more is ridiculous.

Eh you gotta play the game. I've been with Meenan for 5 years now and every year I threaten to walk because of the price increase and they give me the new customer pricing. I usually butter it up with how I love their service and hate their competition, and that last thing I would want to do is make that move. That typically gets things moving.
