If the seller of the unit is such a qualified plumber and installer, why is he selling through Craigslist? There would be more than plenty of opportunities to sell this through normal course of business and through business contacts. JMO

Well for the OP's sake I would sure hope he would verify that he is licensed and certified.

Curious to know what that plumber quoted him. When I converted to gas, the oil boiler was still fairly new. I had my plumber install the oil boiler at a different property and I still end up paying $4500 for labor and materials.

Mine was newer as well so I opted for a conversion instead of a new boiler. When all was said and done it was around 4K including pipe work, conversion, liner, new gas water tank and oil tank removal.

If you already have gas in the house and only the boiler is going to be replaced in the same spot, it should not be as expensive. $6K-$8K from old boiler to new. If you are looking into the fancy (tankless) systems it will sure go higher.

I had mine done 2 yrs ago but was a conversion / relocation (back of garage) with decent amount of piping re-routing done for about $10K minus $1.2K in rebates. It was the cheapest price i got. everyone else wanted $12K and above...
