Worked in the early 70’ s with recording artists ALIVE N KICKIN at jimmy byrnes...their hit sing hold on just a little bit tighter now baby sold millions of copies .

It was written by tommy James for Pepe cardona founder and lead singer .

Jimmy byrnes and his brother Bobby owned the club in flushing , the club in manhattan and the sea girt inn at the Jersey shore ..worked the loop for years as the band was in big demand.

We lost Pepe lead singer and founder of ALIVE N KICKIN just recently to cancer before the summer ..a great loss ...the band was performing right up until the very end for 50 years .

I saved a text I got from him only weeks before on my phone ... I will keep it forever.

He wanted me to know he had made up band shirts for the 50th anniversary and was sending my wife one that said drummers wifey .

It was the last I ever heard from him again as he finally lost the fight for his pancreatic cancer ...RIP

Then responses to the above post:

I know in the second half of the 1960s and into the 1970s for a time (how late in the 1970s? Not sure), they existed. There address was 50 Austin Blvd., Island Park, LI, NY (though some have stated it as 50 Broadway, and sometimes they said their location was Island Park and sometimes they said it was Long Beach). The Action House itself changed names (circa mid-1970), to either the "Rock Pile" or "Rockpile".

Many many acts (big name as well as lesser name) had that as a main venue (if not THE main venue) in the greater New York City metro area. Some of the name acts that appeared there over the years"

Vanilla Fudge, The Vagrants, Leslie West and Mountain, The Illusion, Young Rascals, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Cream, Rod Stewart and Small Faces, Spanky & Our Gang, early Billy Joel, The Fifth Dimension, Wilson Pickett, Moby Grape, Canned Heat, Velvet Underground (with Lou Reed), the Mothers of Invention (with Frank Zappa), the Fugs, the Ronettes, the Shangra Las, The Left Bank, Country Joe and the Fish, Procol Harum, Jeff Beck, The Yardbirs (with Jimmy Page), Sly nad the Family Stone, the Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac, Alice Cooper, The Grateful Dead, with New Riders of the Purple Sage, Badfinger, Mott the Hoople, Andy Warhol, and so many many more.

Before the Action House, the building was The Shell House (a supper club) which hosted stars of the early sixties: Marvin Gaye, Jay & the Americans, The Four Seasons, Bobby Vinton, Little Anthony, Johnny Mathis, Jack Jones, as well as comics of those days.

I was a tad too young for The Action House, but man what a lineup.

As too My Father's Place, and the person who asked. yes; Michael "Eppy" Epstein is still in charge of MFP.
My sister shares a house with him.

That was me ~Chi who asked. Everyone knew 'Eppy' 'back in the day'. He was like the 'Sonny' of 'Sonny's Place' in Seaford.

I don't know how either one of them did it ... they managed to bring incredibly talented musicians to Long Island. They somehow made it work, & for that, I'm sincerely grateful, & continue to have the utmost respect.

Unfortunately Sonny is gone, Rest In Peace. I'm glad to hear 'Eppy' is still doing what he does best.

I'm gonna definitely check this out when things calm down a bit. I'm wondering if the Roslyn Hotel is the same motel/hotel that used to be right across the street from the old 'My Father's Place' location? No need to answer here though, I'll take a ride past to check it out, thanks for posting here, was not aware.

I was there. I missed the beginning of that tour but made that show.
The next tour we caught them at Stoney Brook and were even able to pick up tickets at the door.
