Hi,

So I received a ticket for an expired inspection when my car was parked on the parking lot of the LIRR. Is it worth fighting it? Or is it a waste of time. I dont see how I can fight my way out of it. I did not know that cops go around looking for this in the parking lots of LIRR stations. It happen on Friday January 2nd and my inspection expired on December 2014.

Any comments is greatly appreciated.

If you got your car inspected within a few days after the ticket, sometimes they will waive it. Depends on who wrote it.

Not sure if you can fight it. You got the ticket because your inspection expired. Even if you get it inspected ASAP, you're being penalized for letting it expire.

You could try though.

if you are new to parking in the TOB parking lots, also know that it's head in parking only and don't park outside the line even if the parking space is an end spot. The wife got a $120 ticket for parking outside the line on an end spot recently.

There's an officer that trolls the Seaford parking lot at 8:30 every morning. Heads up!

Yes, get it inspected, plead not guilty and mail in with a $30 fee.

It would help if we knew what lot you were in as well as the authority that wrote the ticket...

i.e. Ronkonkoma lot, tickets can be given out by Suffolk Police, MTA Police, Town of Islip Public Safety or Town of Islip Park Ranger for the Islip side lots or by Suffolk Police, MTA Police, Town of Brookhaven on the Brookhaven side.

Each ticket will end up in a different court possibly and your experience of getting excused will depend on where you end up.

What you mean? Ticket shows a $90 fine with a schedule date of 2/13/15.

This was at the Bellmore station. The top of the ticket says Police Dept, Nassau County.
