If so what does this mean for the economy, etc?

well, it probably will result in either the raising of taxes and or borrowing money to cover payroll, which will result in a downgrade of Nassau's credit rating.

Politicians and public unions have no concept of CUTTING spending. But don't worry, they'll just install speed cameras in everyone's driveway to make up for the loss.

Well, with half a million housing units and so many businesses and industry, that will probably account for well under 100 bucks a household-and that's because state and Federal Funding keeps drying up to LI. We are just a piggy bank to the rest of the country.

(removed LIQuest from blocked posters-- his posts are great now)

The article cites lower sales taxes-- what would've happened if places like the Nassau Hub were approved?

Nassau's revenue model just isn't sustainable, and its costing the taxpayers.

They don't care about taxpayers.
It's about everyone who is living off the public dime and sustaining their lifestyle.
Taxes will never, ever, ever ever go down they will only continue to increase.
Nassau will be Detroit sooner than later. When things get to that point only then will the wake up call come in. By the time Nassau implodes it will be too late to do anything.
There will be filthy rich and dirt poor with no in between.

Do you know any secretaries to comptrollers that (a) get a $20K raise all in one shot and (b) make $130K on Long Island? I sure don't.

I have to say I agree with hotkarl! The madness for the public sector in Nassau never ends and the taxpayer is always stuck with the insane bill!

So in Prince George's County, Maryland, they actually installed camera's on the school bus stop signs to snap a pictures of any cars that don't stop when the doors are open

Saying a prayer LI politicians aren't noticing.
