I go fishing on Green Island, off the Wantagh Parkway, which requires a night or 4WD license to be able to park there. Totally asinine if you ask me, because there is no reason for these requirements. Around there is signs that say violators can be ticketed/towed.

So the other day I am fishing there without a permit, and as I am walking out in comes a cop. He sees me getting into in my car and stops right behind me, blocking me. He then asks for license/registration, which I give to him.

He starts to write me a ticket, and THEN gets onto the radio and orders a tow truck! Moderator cut: language 10minutes later, and the tow guy says "oh, this is an all wheel drive car, we need the flat bed truck for this. I beg the guy, please don't tow me. He says "ok, you can just pay us now if thats fine with the trooper. Trooper is fine with it.

I have then then cough up 180 bucks for the tow truck company, and then the trooper drives off.

Yeah, i was parking illegally and deserve the 130 dollar ticket, but to block me in and call the tow truck? Moderator cut: language removed

Is this post for real? You obviously broke the law... twice. And then you are asking if something is legal?

All I can say is follow the law and that can be avoided. I once got pulled over for not speeding bc the cop had a quota that he had to fill to write a certain amount of tickets. It may not be legal but cops do it, so I suggest just avoiding it altogether- if you know the laws in place just follow it.

I got out of my ticket only bc my cousin put a call in. The cops are ridic.

Its a stupid law. Why the [edit] heck do they need to have special fishing permits there.

And why did that cop need to be such a big meanie and waste 180 hard earned bucks. That was above and beyond.

If you feel that the officer acted wrong then file a complaint with the police department, it will be investigated.

you need permits to keep every person who wants to fish there from doing just that . that is the filter to keep the crowds down .

Reminds of that Clash song:
Breakin' rocks in the hot sun
I fought the law and the law won
I needed money 'cause I had none
I fought the law and the law won

You broke the law and lost!
