Nassau and Suffolk counties are set to announce Thursday they are imposing "odd-even" gasoline rationing to ease congestion and frustration at filling stations, a Nassau County official said.
Vehicles with license plates ending in an even number or the number “0” can make purchases of motor fuel on even numbered days.
Vehicles with license plates ending in an odd number can make purchases of motor fuel on odd numbered days.
Vehicles with licenses plates ending in a letter or other character can make purchases on odd numbered days.
Commercial vehicles, emergency vehicles, buses and paratransit vehicles, Medical Doctor (MD) plates and vehicles licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission are exempt.
odd and even is just something to make you feel good but it does nothing.
if 6 million people need gas we need enough to cover it ,period.
we all dont go on the same day anyway so all your doing is rearrainging the mix from x amount of mixed plades to the same number of sorted plates.
you would have to have very long lines one day and very short lines the next day for it to do a thing and thats not the case.
its a freakin joke.
