I am trying to buy a house in long island but i am not familiar with the area and my broker has only shown me houses in Baldwin. I need a good school district and at least 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. price range $400k-450K
All suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

1) Where do you live now?

2) Where do you work?

3) If 1 and 2 are NYC, buy north, not east

Don't know what else is important to you. Maybe New Hyde Park? Although you'd be at your upper limit there...

yes, we currently live in NYC. Is North LI more desirable? she keeps stressing that baldwin/baldwin harbor is a very good school district and that his is the place to be.

There are plenty of good school districts on Long Island! Why limit yourself to looking only at the Baldwin/Baldwin Harbor area? Sounds to me your gut is telling you to check out other areas as well...

Where do you/your spouse work?

You aren't going to get much for 450k on the North shore. If you are looking in Baldwin maybe look at East Meadow, Merrick, North Merrick, Bellmore, N. Bellmore, Wantagh, Seaford, Massapequa, Levittown. I think you could get good bang for your buck in those areas. Good schools, easy access to the LIRR.
